How does a Wi-Fi QR code work?
The QR code encodes your network name (SSID), password, and security type using the standard WIFI: URI format. When scanned, iOS and Android display a prompt asking if the user wants to join that network no password typing needed.
What Wi-Fi security types are supported?
ScanMyQR supports WPA2, WPA3, WEP, and open (no-password) networks. WPA2 is recommended. WEP networks are legacy and less secure prefer WPA2 or WPA3 if your router supports it.
Does ScanMyQR store my Wi-Fi password?
No. Wi-Fi credentials are encoded directly into the QR code image and are never sent to ScanMyQR servers. The credentials exist only in the generated QR graphic that you download.
Does a Wi-Fi QR code work on all phones?
Yes. iOS 11+ and Android 10+ support Wi-Fi QR codes natively via the built-in camera app. Older Android devices may need a QR scanner app that supports the WIFI: URI format.
